Awakening from the fog that is Re-alignment.

After some thoughtful intervention, (the 7 BIG EAST basketball schools). Seems like some of the  (football) schools that are (maybe) headed to the BIG EAST are giving some more thought to that idea. That it may be in their best interest to kind of stay where they are. If only because it maybe safe to do so.
Now, the Mountain West is conducting conversations with Boise St to stay with them. And that it is no ill feelings that wanted to leave. Just us another chance to make this a better conference. Now here's kicker. The fact that the BIG EAST is now most likely to lose their AQ status for the new BCS Playoff process which begins in 2014. Could very well be a key to a lot of changing and re-changing. Going cross country for one game a week wouldn't be problem, because it's football. That's why the changes were making sense. Yes chasing the football money. Now when the Mountain West and Boise St make amends. That's going to leave some scrambling by the football schools that are left to make some hard decisions. About whether it was all worth it to go seeking BCS play off and money status else where.
Now, getting back to the the 7 basketball schools, we know why they are leaving. It's because they have become non-relevant in a football world. And it is there way of letting the football schools that are in the now the BIG EAST. That they are reason the you have all of this. And to be pushed a side for football, they aren't having it.
Too bad it had to come to this. But, the world is changing. sometimes for the good and sometimes for the bad. Hopefully the 7 basketball schools will be able to make ago at this change, without too much financial repercussions. Raiding another conference for basketball dominant schools. And getting basketball AQ approval from the NCAA Mens and Womens Basketball Championship Committee.

Once again, Tennessee is at a crossroad with their football program.

Listening to to Tennessee Vice Chancellor/AD Dave Hart. Seems a lot instability has gone on at Tennessee over a period of time. Too many presidents (12 since 2000), too many football coaches (4th football coach in 6 yrs). With this instability has come a financial drain on reserves. Contract buy outs leaving school with only a $1.9 mil reserve. Other programs in SEC operate up to and some over $100 mil reserve level. How Tennessee got this point and kept up with the other members of the SEC. Only the upper administration can answer that. And as much as Vice Chancellor/AD Hart attempted to give some insight, it was still hard to take in. Because it's Tennessee, a member of the SEC. A conference that at the end of the 2011-12 athletic season divided up $240+ million to it's full membership schools at that time.
Tennessee Vice Chancellor/AD Dave Hart did mention there needs to be some consistency. So the process be as thorough as possible, within the time frame they have to work with. There will not be a search firm at this time for a new coach. It will be handled in house. Tennessee Vice Chancellor/AD Hart, did answer that some of the names that they have in mind, they wont be able contact until after the bowl season. May be too late for what they are looking for. But, if it's what is needed to move the football program forward in the right direction. The wait maybe needed.
Also mentioned was the fact that their NCAA probation had been extended 2yrs, with recruiting restrictions. That will be factor, plus  time. How long will be given to right the ship? 3 years? 1 graduation class? That couldn't be answer today.
Which ever direction they decide to go Head Coach, Asst Coach, young gun coach, or a facilitator. Will definitely have be adapt quickly to the challenges in front him. And put a good staff together to hold on the recruiting class coming in and add to it in the process.

The presser is about 30 minutes. See for yourself, it gives an insight to the challenges that Tennessee athletics is facing.

UCONN comes to College Station and gets a 31 point win 81-50.

Post game comments: UCONN Husky Head Womens Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma; #30 FR F Breanna Stewart and #31 JR C Stefanie Dolson.

TSU Womens Soccer and UH football coming up...

Co Levine tweaked the offense and moved forward. Productive players got touches, that was a good thing. Now, they've got to figure out how to first, slow their opponent, then stop that opponent. RICE, TSU 1-1. UH 0-2. Mind you, Co Levine is making progress. The key now is to keep moving forward and progressing. Not plateauing, or regressing. It's only week 2.

Scoring 49 points is production. Allowing 56 is not...
