College time is over, time to go to WORK

The last two evenings and today's draft event. Has proved once again. Potential NFL talent trumps all. If it is perceived that you can mix and match in the NFL. You will get drafted. No matter where you play. So much information is at a scouts hand. That it is almost impossible to not find some player that has NFL talent.
But, once again we heard that phrase, "He is a GREAT COLLEGE PLAYER." "Should have stayed in school another year." Suggesting that, he is not draftable. But he is invited to camp. Suggesting he is signable with no headaches.
One of today's commentators mentioned that from today to training camp the free agent recruiting starts. And up to 10 teams might court 1 player, trying to get him into camp. Now prove yourself ROOKIE!

UH softball gets mid-week win over TSU, 12-4.

Mid-week for the Lady Cougar softball team means non-conference game, and work on lacking tendencys. Pitching gave up 4 runs on 8 hits to the Lady Tigers. The Cougars bats got going in the bottom of the 2nd for 8 runs. Then 4 runs in the 3rd. It was enough for the Lady Cougars to get the win. UH starting pitcher, #33, Frosh, Summer Groholski went the distance for the win (7-4).

The bats were alive, but it was not enough TSU W SFTBL loses 12-4 to UH.

TSU Tiger W SFTBL lose mid-week against the UH Cougar W SFTBL, 12-4. Lacking in consistent pitching (11hits, 12 runs) and not being able to produce runs (8 hits, 4 runs), cost the Lady Tigers today. A positive, was only 1 error was committed by the Lady Tigers. Mid-week also means no weekend pitcher available. A combination of Frosh, P, #27, Brianna Parker (1.2 ip, 5hits, 8runs) and Frosh, P, #2, Jeniece Tillman (2.1 ip, 6 hits, 4 runs) just couldn't get it done in today's match up. UH Cougar softball team returns to the circle tonight against TSU.

The UH Cougars are hosting two midweek games. One against Texas Southern tonight at 6, then HBU (14-28, 2-4), tomorrow at UH Cougar Softball stadium. The Lady Cougars are 27-18, 12-6. After suffering a 1-2 weekend series lost to C-USA leader Tulsa (32-11, 14-4). Leaving them in 4th place with 6 conference games and 10 games overall, including tonight's games against TSU.
The Lady Tigers (23-13, 10-13) picked up a huge weekend series in SWAC play from Prairie View (19-15, 10-6), to take control of 1st place in the west division. After tonight they've got a weekend series at Grambling (6-31, 3-10). TSU needs two wins to get their 3rd consecutive SWAC Western Division Title.

TSU Tiger Baseball completes a weekend sweep over UAPB Golden Lions on Senior Day.

Today the TSU Tiger baseball team completed a weekend sweep over SWAC opponent Univ of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. A 5-4 extra inning win in game one, then a 6-4 game two win. Completing a double header on Saturday. Then a 2-1 extra inning win on Senior Day. It is the Tigers 1st weekend conference sweep of the season. And as Co Robertson mentions in the post game. It is good a start as any.

Today begins a new day in Texas Southern University Womens Basketball.
Naismath Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, Cynthia Cooper-Dyke was presented around 2:25PM, as the new womens basketball coach for the TSU Lady Tigers. With this hiring, the Houston area college womens basketball scene changes.
In that the brand of college womens basketball we've been watching will change competitively. One of Naismath Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer, Cooper-Dyke, favorite muses is, "Are you committed to winning." A winner is who she is, and will always be. As a player on the college and pro level. And as a Coach on the pro and college level she has found a way to make adjustments, figure it out, and won. She's taken two college Div I teams to post season play, (Prairie View A&M Univ-2 yrs and UNC-Wilmington-2 yrs). She also has been able to get 20+ wins out both programs, at 2 each school. With those accomplishments she has picked up 3 Coach of the Year honors in between the CAA(Colonial Athleitc Association) and SWAC(Southwestern Athletic Conference).
Definitely recruiting will change but, more than that, basketball playing style will change. At some point, once the conference realignments get settled with the local schools. Hopefully a local rotating Womens Basketball Classic will be on the horizon.

FYI: UNC-Wilmington's pryor post season participation had been 1980-81, 1981-82 to NCAIAW.

UH Lady Cougars win game 1 against ECU Lady Pirates, 13-5.

Score 3(Houston), give up 2(East Carolina), top of the next inning. Is not a way to start a game. Especially if it is the 1st game of a double-header. Two today and one tomorrow. And with both teams having an error a piece. Thank goodness for starting pitcher Diedre Outon settled down to taking care of the business in front of her. And that was taking control of the game from the circle. No starting pitcher wants extended innings. But such is life, for the Lady Cougars scored 5 runs bottom of the 2nd. Both teams go without a run in the 3rd. Both teams scored during the 4th. 1 run by ECU and 3 by the Lady Cougars. ECU would score 2 top of the 4th which would require the Lady Cougars to come to bat in the bottom of the 5th. 2 runs would settle the game.

Final: UH 13, 18 hits, 2 ers.
ECU 5, 8 hits, 1er.
