WBSKB- Rice vs Texas State, Rice wins 73-66. Rice moves to 5-5 on the season.

This game had an interesting sidebar, coach against former player (Rice Owl Co Greg Williams and Texas State Co Zenarae Antoine, a first for Co Williams). It also marked the first game one Jessica Kuster. One connection banded them all together, basketball and of course Colorado State Rams. After coming into a situation where they only won five games last year. Co Zenarae Antoine has already got the Texas State Lady Bobcats at 4-4. The season is looking up.

2012 Homecoming, PV Panthers hosting Alabama A&M Bulldogs.

Homecoming should be about family, friends getting together to have fun. And when it involves a school homecoming, in some ways it has special meaning to those involved. both teams got off to a slow start. First half ends with a 3-0 Bulldog lead. The Bulldogs start the second half with 14 unanswered points. PV counters with a safety, score is 17-2 Bulldogs, end of third. The safety gives PV life as they get 13 in the 4th qtr. But, it is no avail. A fumble by PV with 21 seconds left in the game finishes their chance of pulling off a victory. Final score 17-15 Alabama A&M.

Are the COOGS really headed to the Big East?

Finally the Cougars have a football invitation. But it’s not to the BIGXII; it’s to the Big East. Where they become a part of a BCS AQ (Automatic Qualifier) conference. With that invitation, comes a whole lot of responsibility. Financial responsibility, time gather up the pride and start sending in those dollars. Talking time is over, Robertson and Hofheinz are now about to be put on as fast a renovation track as possible. Just because you’ve been invited, doesn’t mean you can wait around anymore. But wait, hold everything, Missouri has announced that they will be moving to The SEC. Doesn’t that leave only nine schools in the BIGXII. Somebody has to fill that spot, and soon, very soon. Well folks looks like 2011 is shaping up to put institutions of higher learning in position to have their BCS bowl affiliations contract renewals ducks in a row for the year 2014, or is it 2013. No matter, right now it is about conference survival. It’s who will have the allotted school numbers to keep their AQ status. Yeah, I hear my compardres talk about AAU (American Academic University) school affiliations. That doesn’t amount to a hill of beans. When it comes to the public, football is relevant, period. And now, I’m headed to a cattle call seeking answers and will probably leave with more questions. My head is spinning round and round.

On Saturday, TSU corrected and corrected and won. Beating Alcorn 14-7..

Going against conference foes is always a difficult task. Especially when you know each others coaching tendencies. It makes for an interesting game. Not until TSU QB, Riko Smalls threw a TD pass to WR, Kirk Fitzhugh, with less than a minute to go in the first half. It looked it would be a very defensive game. But, a smart decision by TSU punter, Francois Ejiofor, giving the Texas Southern Tigers a badly needed 1st down, with . Pretty much put the game away for another TSU win. Below immediate game reaction from TSU Coach Kevin Ramsey, about the win. And post game comments from Alcorn State Braves Football Coach Melvin Spears.

Once again any way, anywhere, Prairie View finds a will to beat Texas Southern in football. It was the only way to finish this game. On a bright and windy day UH makes UCLA have a bad trip, a 38-34 loss.

When Coach Sumlin mentioned at the football luncheon that UCLA would probably be the largest collective they would play this season. There was definitely no doubt, in anybody's mind they were not huge. The UCLA Bruin WR's were snagging passing all day long. Which contributed to UCLA being able to stay stride for stride with UH, scoring wise. The Defense gave, bended, then made a stand when they needed to late in 4th quarter that gave the ball back to the offense to finish the game. A 38-34 UH Cougar win to start the season and give the home opening crowd something to talk about.
But the pride of the day belonged to RS-Sr, QB, Case Keenum. Below he talks about his exhilarating game experience.

As was once told to me in a frank matter of fact type of way, "We may not be the top dog in the state. But, we will project our self's as such." They have and they will.

There are goings on at The University of St Thomas.

As the University of  St Thomas, located in the Montrose area, a 4 year institution of higher learning. An NAIA school, now affiliated athletically with the Red River Conference. Continues to make a very viable attempt to increase their visibility. And that vision is put forth by Athletic Director/Mens Basketball Coach Todd Smith.

You can now find A KING-SIZE VIEW online. Check out the latest issue. Thanks for your continued support.

A day after the media on slaught. This group of Cougars are ready for the unexpected.

Practice, Practice, Practice. That is what is on the agenda for today. With a little intrusion on practice time yesterday. This group of UH Cougar Softball team's approach to this upcoming weekends Super Regional, is different. Where as the first team to reach this point in the programs history was more of we've got talent and expect to be here. Like Coach Holas mentioned, "We're the only Non-BCS school still left in the tournament." Today you here from Sr, LF, Melissa Gregson and Freshman, C, Haley Outon. Two players on this team, that personify what, "game by game, pitch by pitch, play by play," means.

Cougar Softball took another step toward Oklahoma City. Cougars win 7-2 over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Austin, TX-After adjustments in circle by both Louisiana-Layette and UH. The Cougar bats found their rhythm, scoring 5 runs, on 5 hits, in the top of the third, to break the game open. Then 1 run, on 2 hits, in the next, giving them a 6 run lead. To their credit, Louisiana-Lafayette defense had not had any errors up to this point of the game UH just had well placed hits in the gaps. Louisiana-Lafayette Jr, P, Ashley Brignac went the complete game. "It was our game plan. that's what the coaches put in front of her and she tried to execute (the pitches). Ashley's an outstanding pitcher. She's been outstanding all year long." Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajun' Softball Co-Head Coach Stefni Lotief spoke on her Junior pitchers performance. She also spoke about Cougar's Sr, P, Amanda Crabtree, "...I saw a lot of movement. I saw her throw a back-door curve on the inside half. I saw her get in trouble later in the game. Early on, I think the momentum shifted in that big 5 run inning and they fed off it."
With a walk and an throwing error by the UH infield. Louisiana-Lafayette gets on base and scores 2 runs during the bottom of the fifth. And the shutout by UH starter Sr, Amanda Crabtree is over. She went 4 2/3, 6K's, then is relieved by Frosh, P, Deidre Outon. She holds her own over the last 2 1/3, having another great save. "We knew that they were an offensive team. This is an offensive regional. As a pitcher, any time that your team puts up that many runs it definitely gives you some breathing room...," was UH Cougar Sr, P, Amanda Crabtree comment on her performance today.
UH Cougar Head Coach Kyla Holas summed it up pretty good,"We are obviously very excited about the outcome of today, but we know that this is just the first game of a very long weekend with a lot of of work still left to do." She continued, "I think anytime in the post season when you can put that many runs on the board early you're definitely going to be able to control the momentum. We worked really hard all week on trying to get that timely hit."

Side note: There was an hour and 37 minute weather delay. Texas is fielding and Texas State has runners at the corners, 2 outs. Top of the 5th. Texas leads Texas State 1-0.

Final: Texas wins 2-0. They will play tomorrow 1PM. While Louisiana-Lafayette will play Texas State, 3:30PM.

Central Florida Women repeat as 2011 C-USA Outdoor Track & Field. And Cougar Pride is once again atop the C-USA in Mens Outdoor.

After what started out as a weather hindered first day. The clouds and rain moved out and action commenced once again. As ConferenceUSA Mens & Womens Track & Field Championship continued after an afternoon storm delay that altered the first day Decathlon and Heptathlon events and moving forward. Like someone mentioned during the course of the weekend. "It helps when you have folks, working with you that have done this many times before. It doesn't become a stress or strain on the system." And a good job they did. There was good track & field this weekend. As mentioned, by both the coaches of the men and women winning programs and dual sport athlete, (Football/Track) UH Cougar Tyron Carrier

UH Cougar Football/Track, participant Tyron Carrier, juggling both sports.
