A day after the media on slaught. This group of Cougars are ready for the unexpected.

Practice, Practice, Practice. That is what is on the agenda for today. With a little intrusion on practice time yesterday. This group of UH Cougar Softball team's approach to this upcoming weekends Super Regional, is different. Where as the first team to reach this point in the programs history was more of we've got talent and expect to be here. Like Coach Holas mentioned, "We're the only Non-BCS school still left in the tournament." Today you here from Sr, LF, Melissa Gregson and Freshman, C, Haley Outon. Two players on this team, that personify what, "game by game, pitch by pitch, play by play," means.

Beating ULL twice, the second time propelled them to the Super Regional in Stillwater, this upcoming weekend against Oklahoma State. And Texas, to stay in the winners bracket of the Austin Regional, a 1-0 shutout. Now comes the growth period, another step forward and will a second opportunity in program history, get them to Oklahoma City, host to the NCAA Womens College World Series.

Cougar Softball took another step toward Oklahoma City. Cougars win 7-2 over Louisiana-Lafayette.

Austin, TX-After adjustments in circle by both Louisiana-Layette and UH. The Cougar bats found their rhythm, scoring 5 runs, on 5 hits, in the top of the third, to break the game open. Then 1 run, on 2 hits, in the next, giving them a 6 run lead. To their credit, Louisiana-Lafayette defense had not had any errors up to this point of the game UH just had well placed hits in the gaps. Louisiana-Lafayette Jr, P, Ashley Brignac went the complete game. "It was our game plan. that's what the coaches put in front of her and she tried to execute (the pitches). Ashley's an outstanding pitcher. She's been outstanding all year long." Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajun' Softball Co-Head Coach Stefni Lotief spoke on her Junior pitchers performance. She also spoke about Cougar's Sr, P, Amanda Crabtree, "...I saw a lot of movement. I saw her throw a back-door curve on the inside half. I saw her get in trouble later in the game. Early on, I think the momentum shifted in that big 5 run inning and they fed off it."
With a walk and an throwing error by the UH infield. Louisiana-Lafayette gets on base and scores 2 runs during the bottom of the fifth. And the shutout by UH starter Sr, Amanda Crabtree is over. She went 4 2/3, 6K's, then is relieved by Frosh, P, Deidre Outon. She holds her own over the last 2 1/3, having another great save. "We knew that they were an offensive team. This is an offensive regional. As a pitcher, any time that your team puts up that many runs it definitely gives you some breathing room...," was UH Cougar Sr, P, Amanda Crabtree comment on her performance today.
UH Cougar Head Coach Kyla Holas summed it up pretty good,"We are obviously very excited about the outcome of today, but we know that this is just the first game of a very long weekend with a lot of of work still left to do." She continued, "I think anytime in the post season when you can put that many runs on the board early you're definitely going to be able to control the momentum. We worked really hard all week on trying to get that timely hit."

Side note: There was an hour and 37 minute weather delay. Texas is fielding and Texas State has runners at the corners, 2 outs. Top of the 5th. Texas leads Texas State 1-0.

Final: Texas wins 2-0. They will play tomorrow 1PM. While Louisiana-Lafayette will play Texas State, 3:30PM.

Central Florida Women repeat as 2011 C-USA Outdoor Track & Field. And Cougar Pride is once again atop the C-USA in Mens Outdoor.

After what started out as a weather hindered first day. The clouds and rain moved out and action commenced once again. As ConferenceUSA Mens & Womens Track & Field Championship continued after an afternoon storm delay that altered the first day Decathlon and Heptathlon events and moving forward. Like someone mentioned during the course of the weekend. "It helps when you have folks, working with you that have done this many times before. It doesn't become a stress or strain on the system." And a good job they did. There was good track & field this weekend. As mentioned, by both the coaches of the men and women winning programs and dual sport athlete, (Football/Track) UH Cougar Tyron Carrier

The UH Cougar Softball team, regular season co-Champions with Tulsa. Prepare for the upcoming C-USA Softball Tournament in Greenville, NC.

Celebrating their share as C-USA regular season co-Champions with Tulsa on yesterday, is yesterdays news. Today it was time to get back out on the field and prepare for the upcoming C-USA Softball Championship tournament.
There was a point in mid March when there were some dark days. Which included the 0-3 conference series against UAB. But, the ship got righted. A double header split with Baylor and a mid week win over ranked A&M. Seemed to give the team what they needed, at that time of the season to move forward. Currently the Cougars are ranked #21, that should change by Tuesday evening when the new RPI comes out. Finishing 19-5 in conference, third best in program history and 39-15 overall. Head Coach Kyla Holas comments on how far the team has come, compared to where they were early in the season. And what they've had done on and off the field get to where they are now. Seniors Amanda Crabtree and Baillie Lott, along with Freshman Diedre Outon, give their comments about the season and the upcoming conference tournament.

7-0, UH completes the weekend sweep of UCF and clinches at least regular season C-USA Co-Championship with Tulsa.

After scoring runs in the first two innings, the game settled down to the circle and fielding. As good as UCF's P, Diana Rojas was, she got rocked by a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth, by Sr, ph, Baillie Lott. A home run by Lathan, (Brooke,ss) in the bottom of the second, provided UH with an early 2 run lead to another solid win. The win leaves them tied with Tulsa for first place for the regular season C-USA Championship. UH softball players Sr, Baillie Lott, Sr, Amanda Crabtree and Fr, Diedre Outon comment on winning and contributing to the team.

And with Lewis, (Jordan) going for UH today you would have looked for a better outing. And with that, I' ll let UH Head Baseball Coach Todd Whitting speak on his Cougars.

The 5th Annual Striking out Breast Cancer game against the (#19) Texas A&M Aggie softball team gave the over flow crowd at Cougar Softball Stadium something to shout about. After UH starting pitcher Fr, Diedre Outon got the first two Aggie batters out, a single by A&M's 1b,Rhiannon Kliesing, then 2b,Melissa Dumezich homers, The Cougar pitching staff (Sr,P Donna Bourgeois) and fielding knuckled down and didn't allow the Aggies to threaten them with another run until late. That run was set up by a walk by c,Nicole Morgan, who is pinch run for by Andrea Tovar, who scores on a throwing error by the UH cf.

C-USA, BIG XII Baseball; RICE vs Texas A&M. RICE wins 2-0.

A Midweek Big12, C-USA Showdown

It was another good day for college midweek baseball at Reckling Park, this time against Big12 Conference representative, Texas A&M. Rice F, Rh John Simms for Rice and So, Lh Brandon Parrent for A&M were the starters. After having a bad first outing against Stanford to start the season, today Rice’s Simms found what was working and stuck to it. Keeping his speed up around 87-95 and going 7 2/3 innings, which is his longest outing of year. He gave (#5) (24-8) A&M all they could handle. Trying to avenge an earlier season loss to (#22) (23-13) Rice. A&M got only 4 hits and left 3 on base. A season high of 4,785 witnessed a stellar pitching duel that lasted until the eighth inning when Rice’s Perrott scored on RBI single to left field by Keenan Cook. Rice scored earlier on an unearned run. That was started by a throwing error by A&M’s SS, Kenny Jackson. Allowing Michael Ratterree to advance to second base, then in successive plays, a ground out to short, advance to third, a ground out to short again allows Ratterree to score.
